The production of sugar cane in Brazil in the sixteenth century became a major export product, but it declined with the discovery of gold in the 17th century
In 2011 Brazil produced up to 623 million tons and São Paulo produces about 60 percent of the crop.
2- India :
Sugar cane is one of the most important agricultural crops in India, alongside wheat, rice, cotton and tea. It is cultivated in various regions including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
China's sugar production hit 11.64 million tons, about 50 percent more than 10 years ago.
